KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm, heavy rain and strong wind alert for eight states, with conditions expected to last till 1am Wednesday.

MetMalaysia said that the affected areas include Gua Musang in Kelantan; as well asKuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman, in Terengganu.

The areas of Jerantut, Kuantan and Pekan in Pahang; the districts of Port Dickson and Rembau in Negeri Sembilan, the whole of Melaka along with Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru in Johor are also affected.

Finally, Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sarikei, Sibu, Kanowit, Mukah (Tanjung Manis), Bintulu and Miri (Subis and Miri) in Sarawak are affected, as well as Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran in Sabah and the Federal Territory of Labuan. – BERNAMA
