PETALING JAYA:
Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) will determine whether to establish the post of senior vice-president at its triennial delegates conference this October, says party vice-president Wilson Ugak Kumbong.

Ugak, who is Hulu Rajang MP, said the post of senior vice-president had yet to be officially created.

“Wait until the triennial delegates conference approves the post,” he was quoted by the Borneo Post as saying.

He was asked to clarify the matter after several media reports alternately referred to John Sikie Tayai as either senior vice-president or vice-president.

Sikie, who is the assemblyman for Kakus, is a minister in the Sarawak premier’s office.

He is listed by the party as senior vice-president, with four others as vice-presidents – Liwan Lagang, assemblyman for Belaga and state deputy minister of telecommunications; Mong Dagang, the assemblyman for Bukit Begunan; Ugak, who is also the federal deputy digital minister; and Aaron Ago Dagang, the MP for Kanowit and federal minister of national unity.

Last month, PRS president Joseph Salang Gandum said he would not seek re-election at the party elections in October, and had reportedly announced his support for Sikie. - FMT
