PUTRAJAYA: A prostitution ring which offered services online via websites, WhatsApp, and Telegram has been cripppled after the Immigration Department raided three premises in Klang and Puchong.
The raids saw the arrests of 29 foreigners and four Malaysians.
On Wednesday afternoon, the department raided a hotel in Klang, detaining 13 foreign women from Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
The women, aged 19 to 53, are suspected of being involved in prostitution, charging between RM190 to RM960 depending on their nationality.
Two Malaysians, believed to be their minders, were also arrested.
Separately, the department also arrested two Indonesian women for working as cleaners without valid passes.
That evening, the department raided two reflexology centres in Puchong, arresting 16 foreign women from Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, and China, aged 20 to 37.
"Two Malaysians were also arrested for employing foreign workers without valid passes," the department said in a statement.
All those detained were taken to the Putrajaya Immigration Depot for further investigation under the Immigration Act, the Passport Act, Immigration Regulations, and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act.- NST
