The organiser behind the pro-Palestine solidarity rally in Kelantan on Oct 10 has apologised for having Israeli flags flown at the event.
Youth group Pertubuhan Anak Muda Bangkit Malaysia spokesperson Khairul Hafiz Hassan said he will cooperate with the authorities in their ongoing investigation into the incident.
“I’m sorry if there are any parties who had misunderstood the gimmick performed at the event. As the organiser, I’m responsible for this mistake and will give full cooperation to the authorities,” he said in a TikTok video, as reported by Sinar Harian and Harian Metro.
He also explained that the rally, which was held for the third time, was organised with contributions gained from the public and did not involve funds or contributions from the state government or any political party.
Sri Tanjung Floating Market Community and various NGOs co-organised the “500 Boats Kelantan Solidarity Voyage for Gaza” last Friday, which saw over 10,000 participants, including boat owners and the public.

However, some videos of the event circulating on social media show several boats flying the Israeli flag.
The organisers have since clarified that it was part of the event’s gimmick to re-enact the intimidation faced by the Global Sumud Flotilla volunteers from Israeli authorities on Oct 2, with no intention to offend.
Yesterday, Kelantan police chief Yusuff Mamat said the matter will be investigated under Section 3(1) of the National Emblems (Control of Display) Act 1949.
He added that the police will record statements from the event organisers soon. - Mkini
