Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa said Federal Territories Umno chairperson Johari Abdul Ghani has yet to provide her with a candidate for the Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan (YWP) board of trustees.
In the meantime, it was of the utmost importance for YWP's work to go on as usual, she added.
"As soon as I receive the name, I will make the appointment (to the YWP board of trustees)," she told a press conference last night after an event at the Connexion Conference and Event Centre in Kerinchi, Kuala Lumpur.
The candidate must be able to commit fully to the foundation, she opined.
On Sept 17, Free Malaysia Today reported Zaliha as saying that she had asked Umno to provide her with a candidate after a grassroots leader resigned from the YWP board.
According to the report, Batu Umno chief Gulam Muszaffar Gulam Mustakim resigned after his division severed ties with Federal Territories Pakatan Harapan after claims of unfair treatment.
Gulam claimed that Harapan had failed to deliver on its promise to give Batu Umno one of the six residents’ representative council subzones in Batu to Umno.
He also claimed that Zaliha had cancelled a meeting to discuss the issue.
However, Zaliha had refuted the allegation, saying the meeting had not been cancelled but rescheduled due to prior commitments.
She also affirmed her respect for Gulam's decision to step down. - Mkini
