Ambank vows action after homeless man hosed down, kicked outside premises

 

Ambank Group today assured that it would take appropriate action after a homeless man was hosed down outside one of its branches in Cheras, an incident that has since sparked public outrage.

In its statement, the bank also distanced itself from the security guard seen hosing down the sleeping man, noting that she was employed by a third-party service provider.

The bank added that another man, seen kicking the homeless man in a 37-second clip, hosing him after the security guard, and throwing the homeless man's belongings, is a cobbler.

"We are aware of this video circulating online regarding an unfortunate incident involving a third-party security guard and a man believed to be a cobbler mistreating a gentleman outside our Taman Maluri branch.

“We are deeply concerned and saddened by what has taken place. No individuals deserve to be treated in that manner, plus the safety of everyone around our premises is our top priority.

"The security guard involved is in fact employed by an external security service provider appointed by the bank. Regardless, we expect all personnel representing our bank, including vendors and partners, to uphold the highest professional conduct.

"We are also in full cooperation with the relevant authorities to ensure the security of the man, and it is our aim to prevent this from ever happening again," the bank's statement read. - Mkini
