A total of 24,907 evacuees from 8,308 families were being housed at 142 relief centres across West Malaysia as of 8.30am.

PETALING JAYA: The number of flood victims has risen to nearly 25,000 across the country as the situation worsens in the east coast and northern region of West Malaysia.
According to the national disaster command centre’s portal, 24,907 evacuees from 8,308 families were being housed at 142 relief centres as of 8.30am.
There are 9,525 victims at relief centres in Kelantan, 5,968 in Perlis, 4,184 in Perak, 2,964 in Selangor, 2,043 in Kedah, 131 in Terengganu, 50 in Penang and 42 in Pahang.
No deaths have been reported so far from this round of floods, caused by the northeast monsoon season.
Yesterday evening, the meteorological department said Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak would experience continuous thunderstorms until today. - FMT
