PETALING JAYA:
The Shah Alam shariah high court fined a counsellor for the eHati programme RM4,000 today after she pleaded guilty to exposing parts of her body at a motivational programme last year, an act deemed to have brought Islam into disrepute.

Bernama reported that syarie judge Zainal Abidin Kusmin meted out the fine, in default of a month’s jail, on Siti Zaama Rizal Boss, 49. She paid the fine.

Siti Zaama was charged with exposing her body in a manner prohibited by Islamic law at a hall in a convention centre in Shah Alam between 8pm and midnight on Sept 29, 2024.

The charge was framed under Section 10(a) of the Syariah Criminal Enactment (Selangor) 1995, which carries a fine of up to RM5,000, up to three years’ imprisonment or both upon conviction.

Two other counsellors, Munirah Hishamshah, 37, and Bushra Zaki, 41, pleaded not guilty to the same charge for committing a similar offence at the same location between 2.30pm and 6.30pm on Sept 30 last year.

The court allowed them bail of RM3,000 with one surety each and set March 5 next year for mention.

Husaini Roslin appeared for the prosecution, while shariah lawyers Mazli Abdul Muin and Yusfa Hanis Yusoff represented Munirah and Bushra respectively. - FMT
