
KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry's (MoE) newly announced initiative to recruit Grade DG9 Education Service Officers under a Contract of Service (CoS) has received an encouraging response.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek today shared a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) on her social media platforms to address issues and concerns expected to be raised by prospective applicants.
The following are the FAQs related to the recruitment exercise:
1. What is meant by newly appointed teachers under the CoS scheme?
Graduates without a degree in education who are appointed on a contract basis and will undergo teacher training at the Institut Pendidikan Guru (IPG).
2. What is the name of the programme to be undertaken?
Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Education.
3. What is the application link for the Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Education?
The link will be accessible from March 2, 2026.
4. When will the online application period open?
From March 2 to March 20, 2026.
5. What are the entry requirements?
i. General requirements
Malaysian citizen
Medically fit
Actively involved in co-curricular activities at university level
Not more than 40 years old as at the application closing date, with a current BMI not exceeding 32.5
ii. Academic requirements
Possess a bachelor's degree from any public or private university, or from an overseas institution recognised by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency
Minimum CGPA of 2.50
Credit (at least Grade C) in Bahasa Melayu at the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or Sijil Vokasional Malaysia (SVM) level, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the government
6. How will the recruitment process be carried out?
Applications must be submitted online via https://mypdpp.moe.gov.my within the stipulated period
Candidates will be assigned a date to sit for the Teacher Candidate Qualification Test after completing the online application
The test will be conducted online
Interview call notifications will be issued on April 22, 2026
Successful candidates will be invited to attend face-to-face interviews
Health screening reports must be uploaded via the designated link before May 30, 2026
7. Where will the teacher training be conducted?
Training will be conducted at designated IPG campuses under the MoE nationwide.
8. How long is the duration of study?
The programme lasts for one year.
9. What is the mode of study?
Face-to-face sessions will be conducted during weekends and school holidays
Online learning will take place throughout the study period
10. What is the starting salary for DG9 CoS teachers?
RM2,360 per month.
11. Who is not eligible to apply?
The following categories are not eligible:
Education graduates, including those currently undergoing the Postgraduate Diploma in Education or Postgraduate Diploma in Education
Interim Contract Appointment Teachers
Contract Teachers appointed through the Education Service Commission
Individuals previously dismissed or terminated from the public service
Undischarged bankrupts
12. Is this recruitment intended to meet the needs of primary schools?
Yes. The recruitment is aimed at meeting the nationwide demand for primary school teachers.
13. What are the roles of the MoE and the Education Service Commission in this recruitment?
MoE: Manages and implements the interview process and training through the Institut Pendidikan Guru Malaysia
Education Service Commission: Oversees the recruitment and appointment of new teachers
14. Do reserve teacher candidates and education graduates still have opportunities to become teachers?
Yes. Opportunities remain open for reserve candidates and education graduates. The MoE and the Education Service Commission continue to work closely to conduct teacher recruitment exercises from time to time to meet the country's education needs. - NST
