KUALA LUMPUR: Batu Caves was graced by a sea of yellow-clad devotees in the early morning hours as thousands journeyed from far and wide to fulfil their vows for Thaipusam.
As of 6.30am on Sunday (Feb 1), Batu Caves had crowds filling every available space from the entrance all the way up the steps. Others were seen taking some well-needed rest after making their climb.
Dozens of kavadi-bearing devotees were seen nearing the end of their ceremonial journey as they approached the gates of the entrance.
The air was filled with lively urumi melam drum beats and devotional music, creating a festive atmosphere that carried through the morning.
Foreign visitors were also spotted among the crowds, drawn by the colour and scale of the annual celebration. - Star
