PMX under fire for using cops, MACC to cast treason, graft smokescreen on late Daim’s wife, kids

DETRACTORS have accused Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim of desperately diverting attention away from pressing matters faced by with his Madani administration with distraction and deceptive tactic.

This came about after Toh Puan Na’imah Abdul Khalid, wife of the late former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, surfaced to brush aside claims that she was involved in an attempt to topple the government as “laughable”.

In essence, she attributed the police report against her plotting a revolt to someone initially hired for a proposed communications team but was later terminated due to poor performance.

This was followed by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) seeking the public’s help to locate Daim’s four children – Asnida, Wira Dani, Amir Zainuddin and Amin Zainuddin with their last known addresses in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor – to assist in an unspecified investigation.

Firing the first salvo was former UMNO supreme council member Isham Jalil who mocked the Madani government as being in a state of disarray.

“They used to investigate me and Bloomberg … I see that Anwar’s government has been shaken badly,” jibed the once special officer to incarcerated former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak who was expelled from UMNO on Dec 7, 2023 for opposing the party’s collaborations with DAP in elections on his Facebook page.

Even the government’s own MPs are now criticising the government and marching in the streets.

“Those involved in scandals get away while those without scandals get arrested. Those with minor cases go to jail yet those with major cases get NFA (no further action). Who else do you want to arrest, Anwar?

“You only have 1 year + to do as you please. After that, your time is up.”

Across social media platforms, netizens were doubtful that the strong-willed Na’imah, 67, would stage a revolt against the Madani government with one surmised that “PMX is scared of his own shadow.”.

With regard to the MACC seeking public help to trace Daim’s children, such action was deemed as a ploy by the graft buster to “avert Bloomberg” for its damning exposé of its head honcho Tan Sri Azam Baki dabbling in shares of Velocity Capital Partner Bhd and Awanbiru Technology Bhd.

This is when Muslim netizens began to harp on the seemingly back-to-back police and MACC action against the Daim family as a diversion from two thorny religious issues, namely the recent trampling of the Quran and the unsettled kuil haram polemic.

To them, both issues which pose threat to Islam should be prioritised than a seemingly obscure claim of someone wanting to topple the ruling government.

Interestingly, the latest episode has also led to netizens reminding the police force that it should act independently while refraining from being used as a political tool by the power that be.

But conspiracy to topple the government or otherwise, the holy Quran trampling incident and the lukewarm action by the police on so-called illegal land raiders to erect temples remain the top concern as evident from comments posted on the Polis Diraja Malaysia (Royal Malaysia Police) FB post.
