Dr Mahathir Mohamad today dismissed a police report by Umno Youth against him yesterday, saying there was nothing for police to investigate him just because he was working to overthrow the present government.
“All over the world people overthrow the governnent. I’m not instigating anything. All I’m saying is, when a government is bad, overthrow it,” he told reporters today after hosting the launch of “Harapanbaru; Policy Talks”, a series of dialogues to be held weekly at his Perdana Leadership Foundation.
Yesterday, Umno Youth vice-chief Khairul Azwan Harun said Dr Mahathir was out to instigate Malaysians to topple the present government through non-democratic means.
“This ‘stupid’ boy… he doesn’t understand politics,” the former prime minister said today.
Mahathir said there was nothing wrong working to overthrow the government.
“Of course, I am overthrowing the government, because it is a kleptocratic government. It is a democratic process,” he said. “Even in an authoritarian country, people try to overthrow the government.”
