Ka Siong urged to reveal how RM5m annual allocation spent

MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong has been urged to reveal how he has spent his RM5 million annual allocation.
"I call on him to reveal how the allocation has been spent in the past five years and intend to ask this question during the coming March parliamentary sitting.
"I am sure that most of Wee’s constituents were surprised to learn that Wee receives RM5 million annual allocation, which is not given to opposition MPs," DAP's Kluang MP Liew Chin Tong (photo) said in a statement today.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng had raised the issue of Wee's allocations last Sunday, implying the latter had not given adequate allocation to a local Chinese independent school in his Ayer Hitam constituency.
Wee shot back yesterday, saying his yearly allocations were not solely for education but were also used for an array of other matters such as road repairs, halls, mosques and temples.
Liew in his statement urged Wee and the Johor BN government to emulate Penang and Selangor in their funding for schools.
"The Johor government should emulate the state government of Penang and Selangor which have given generous allocation not only to Chinese independent schools but also to Tamil schools, Islamic religious schools and mission schools," he said.
He said the Penang government had fixed annual allocations for schools at RM12 million yearly since 2009, while Selangor had in 2016 allocated RM16 million for education assistance.- Mkini
