KOTA KINABALU, Jan 5 — Parti Warisan Sabah vice president Datuk Peter Anthony arrived at the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) here this morning to give a statement on a land purchase case but was then taken in handcuffs to his home for a search and raid.
Anthony, 46, arrived at the MACC office at the Federal Administrative Complex in Jalan Sulaman, Kota Kinabalu, at about 10.25am and went into the office without speaking to reporters.
He was accompanied by lawyers Martin Tommy and Loretto Padua Jr. The latter is also Warisan’s secretary-general.
At 1.20pm, Anthony came out in handcuffs and was led to a car. It is not clear though if he has been arrested.
“We are going to my home,” he said when asked where they were taking him. He was hugged by some supporters before being led away.
An MACC statement two days ago gave Anthony, 48 hours to turn himself in order to facilitate investigation into an RM155 million land purchase in Tongod district in central Sabah.
Also wanted was local lawyer Michael Persius Ubu, said to be a lawyer representing RISDA.
Anthony was arrested by MACC in October last year when he was investigated over the alleged embezzlement of federal funds meant for rural Sabah projects.
He was among 13 people, including Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, who were arrested and eventually freed on MACC bail. -malaymail
