Najib: Can 93-year-old be Malaysia's future

© GettyKOTA KINABALU: Can a 93-year-old man be the face of the future of Malaysia?

This question was thrown by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak to Malaysians as the country heads into the coming general elections soon.

"I leave it to everyone to think about it, I don't have to say anything else," said the prime minister when addressing Sabah Barisan Nasional party members at a dinner held here on Thursday.

He said the Barisan Nasional government has a proven all-round record in bringing development, peace and harmony to the people and added that it was already geared towards a 30-year plan into Malaysia's future.

He said the opposition has been "consistently inconsistent" and added that he has proven to be "consistently consistent".

"This is a reality. Give us the mandate," he said.

Urging Sabah to get nothing less than 22 out of 25 parliament and more than 48 out of 60 state seats in the coming elections, he said that Barisan should work as a united force and leave no stone unturned.

"The harder the battle the sweeter the victory," Najib said.

He said the opposition was only selling promises while Barisan was already delivering.

He said that the Pan-Borneo Highway, school repairs and rural development projects were some of the promises Barisan has delivered on.

Najib also said that in the coming election, Barisan parties must concentrate on the persuadable and undecided voters as it was important because some seats were won by margins of less than 1, 000 votes

"You must contribute to the winning of Barisan, not win just on Barisan's strength," said Najib.

Earlier, chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman urged all Barisan leaders not to take things for granted and to constantly meet with the grassroots.

"We must keep explaining and countering the misinformation of the opposition," he said.
