In his pre-election campaign-like message to a crowd of 10,000 Sabahans, Prime Minister Najib Razak is reported to have said, "But you must remember, ladies and gentlemen, that a mistake can destroy the state and country.”
What exactly is Najib implying?
What is the mistake that citizens can make? By voting for the opposition political party/parties?
Or is Najib hinting that voting for the Barisan Nasional coalition that he heads could be a big mistake?
Oops, what a naïve question!
Further, what exactly does the leader of a nation mean when he threatened in the same breath that such a mistake "can destroy the state and country"?
Indeed, if casting your democratic vote for the opposition can "destroy" the country, then there must be something very wrong with the constitutional monarchy style of democracy that Malaysia has been showcasing to the whole wide world these past sixty years.
How on earth can we have a parliament with representatives from the opposition who would destroy an entire nation?
How on earth can we even have a democratic nation going to the polls knowing (from Najib himself) that the country will be destroyed?
The solution appears to be only one. Disband all opposition political parties; have a slogan like the original Ford Motors marketing call that says: "You can vote for any candidate for you only have Barisan Nasional as the country's sole political party to govern".
Are we living in a feudal age of bygone eras?
Pray, please enlighten us peasants, sir. Perhaps the media is lying?- Mkini
