Selangor BN chairperson Noh Omar has said he has no ambitions to become the next menteri besar should BN recapture Selangor.
"We go down to the ground to safeguard the rakyat's interest.
"Even though I am the Selangor Umno chief, I have no ambitions to become menteri besar, but it is up to the party leadership to decide," he told journalists after visiting an Orang Asli village in Ulu Yam today.
Noh Omar also urged Selangor Umno leaders not to tussle over the menteri besar candidacy.
"I would like to ask all leaders in Selangor not to fight each other in wanting to become menteri besar.
"What is important is for us to win, then we will abide by the party leadership's decision," he said.
Noh also stated that all leaders must toe the line once the party has made a decision.
"So don't dream about becoming menteri besar or (election) candidates," he stressed.
Noh was responding to a question on whether Selangor BN had a menteri besar candidate.
After Pakatan Harapan announced Dr Mahathir Mohamad as its prime ministerial candidate yesterday, Noh criticised the announcement, accusing them of putting the cart before the horse.
"The opposition is squabbling over positions, on who becomes prime minister and deputy prime minister, even before it wins.
"In Selangor, we (BN) don't want to squabble over positions, we prioritise the people.
"Let Harapan dream about being prime minister, we in BN work for the people," he said. -Mkini
