Office chair hurled from flats claims student's life

A 15-year-old died after being struck by an office chair, believed to have been hurled from an upper floor of a flat at Blok 102 Projek Perumahan Rakyat Seri Pantai in Pantai Dalam, Kuala Lumpur, last night.

Brickfields district police chief ACP Ruslan Khalid confirmed the incident when contacted.

Ruslan said the victim had been identified as S Sathiwaran, a Form Three student at a secondary school in Petaling Jaya.

“The incident is believed to have happened just as the victim was about to enter the covered area of the flat near the staircase with his mother.

"The victim suffered serious head injuries and died at the scene, his mother escaped unharmed,” he said.

Ruslan said the case was being investigated under Section 304A of the Penal Code for causing death by negligence.
