PAS should leave the current Selangor government, now

Now that PAS has stated its plans to form the government in Selangor, it is time for the party to remove itself from the current state government, Selangor PKR Youth said.
“Is it still relevant for PAS to be under the state government after having expressed this wish?
“It is time for PAS to respectfully step back from the state government, instead of continuing to be a thorn in its side,” Selangor PKR Youth secretary Syed Badli Shah Syed Osman said in a statement today.
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang (photo) said yesterday that PAS plans to form the next government in Selangor, but was coy about how many seats it planned to contest.

Syed Badli called this an “arrogant” statement and said that the Islamist party has betrayed the partnership that was formed within the Selangor state government.
PAS should be upholding the partnership and work to retain the current administration, he said, in line with Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali’s efforts for harmony in the state government.
“Unfortunately, the PAS president has clearly stated that they want to lead the Selangor state government after the 14th general election.
“This statement appears to undermine the partnership between PAS and the other (then) Pakatan Rakyat component parties, which had joined together to form the Selangor state government for so long.
“This statement also betrays the trust that was given to PAS to work together to strengthen the state government administration,” Syed Badli said.
PAS had previously announced that it intends to contest at least 130 parliamentary seats.
If it goes ahead with this plan, PAS would end up contesting more seats than Umno did in the 13th general election. Umno, the largest political party in Malaysia, contested 121 parliamentary seats then and won 88.- Mkini
