The police have detained a civil servant suspected of vandalising a church in Jalan Hamzah in Kota Bahru last Sunday.
Kelantan police chief Hasanuddin Hassan said the 34-year-old man was picked up at the Pasir Mas police headquarters about 1.30pm yesterday.
He said this was the second time the suspect had committed a similar act, the first being on Jan 3, adding the man claimed to have experienced hallucinations since his mother’s death last year.
On the night of the incident, the suspect had driven his wife's car alone from his house in Pasir Mas before hurling two units of water filters towards the church, Hasanuddin told a press conference at the Kelantan police contingent Headquarters here today.
It was previously reported that items resembling water filter components were thrown at the Kota Bharu Methodist Church and the Arulmigu Siva Subramaniyar Temple, resulting in smashed and cracked windows.
