Sabah CM: Rural Sandakan folk will get upgraded road

Musa Aman says he will use state funds for the project if federal ministry can't make an allocation.
musa-aman-jalan-rosak-sandakan-sabahKOTA KINABALU: The long-awaited road upgrading project for Sungai Luboh which will take traffic away from long-suffering residents in the area appears to be finally within reach.
Chief Minister Musa Aman said he and Libaran MP Juslie Ajirol had met with Rural and Regional Development Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to discuss the issue on a few occasions.
He said Ismail had promised to allocate funds for the road project.
“This road is under the rural and regional development ministry.
“Actually, Juslie had applied for the project from the previous rural and regional development minister Shafie Apdal.
“Unfortunately, that minister turned down the application,” he said.
Shafie, who was removed from the federal cabinet in 2015, has since left Umno and formed Parti Warisan Sabah, a Sabah-based opposition party in 2016.
Musa said in case the funds from the ministry did not come, he promised to use the state’s money to carry out the project.
“But this will not happen overnight. It would need between three and four months to materialise,” he said.
Musa was speaking at a meet-the-people event at Sg Lubuh, Sandakan, after visiting the Luboh polling district centre today.
He said the government, through Prime Minister Najib Razak, had also approved RM200 million to build a road connecting Kuala Gum Gum to Tanjung Semawang.
The road project, which will commence soon, would benefit the locals in the vicinity, including in Sungai Lubuh, he said.
Musa, who is also Sg Sibuga assemblyman, once again advised the people not to fall for the lies of the opposition.
“They cannot give funds. Only BN can do it because we are in power and we can help you.
“We dare to say that because we have proof. We have delivered our promises to the people,” he said. -FMT
