MCA deputy president Dr Wee Ka Siong said he is not afraid of DAP’s plan to take him down in the 14th general election.
“Bring it on,” said the three-term MP for Ayer Hitam in Johor and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.
Wee also took a dig at DAP, which will be working with Amanah in Ayer Hitam, for supporting the PAS splinter party formed by progressive Islamists.
“Amanah is PAS 2.0, the party base is from PAS and some support hudud law and yet, DAP is once more working with Amanah,” he said.
A source told The Malaysian Insight Wee should be “very worried” as DAP gave up two seats – Tanjung Piai and Alor Gajah – to Bersatu for the opportunity to contest in Ayer Hiram in the next elections.
DAP has not named its candidate for the seat against Wee, who has defeated PAS in two consecutive general elections since 2004.
In 2013, Wee defeated PAS Supporters Congress chief Hu Pang Chow to win the seat.
However, his majority has declined steadily over the past three elections.
Wee won the seat by 15,652 votes in 2004. It declined slightly to 13,909 votes during the 2008 political tsunami and was slashed further to 7,310 votes in 2013.
