A part-time trader pleaded not guilty in the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court in Malacca today to a charge of committing physical sexual assault on a 15-year-old girl.
Muhammad Khairul Nizam Shah Johari, 20, was alleged to have committed the offence on the Form Three student at a karaoke centre at Lot S12 Aras Dua, Mahkota Parade, Jalan Merdeka here at noon on Dec 16 last year.
The man, from Jasin, was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and faced an imprisonment for up to 20 years and whipping if found guilty.
Judge Meor Sulaiman Ahmad Tarmizi allowed Muhammad Khairul Nizam Shah bail of RM15,000 in one surety and also ordered the accused to report himself at the nearest police station every month.
Deputy public prosecutor Siti Ruvinna Mohd Rawi prosecuted, while lawyers M Pusppa and Azhar Ghazali represented Muhammad Khairul Nizam Shah.
