GEORGE TOWN: Police are looking for a man who threatened to bomb the northeast district police headquarters here yesterday as he was angry with the authorities for frequently detaining suspects.
District police chief Che Zaimani Che Awang said that the man contacted the Pulau Tikus police station at about 3.30pm and spoke to a policeman before suddenly cursing at him with various abusive words.
Before putting down the telephone, the caller threatened to explode the northeast district headquarters using C4 (military-grade plastic explosive) as he wanted to see all the policemen die.
Following the threat, a bomb disposal unit and the tracker dog unit (K9) from contingent headquarters were sent to district headquarters at Jalan Patani for further checks. No bomb or explosive devices were found in the area.
He said police were now tracking down the suspect concerned to assist in the investigations. - Mkini
