KOTA KINABALU: The youth movement of a Sabah-based political party wants the authorities to verify the legitimacy of a foreign worker data card where the nationality is stated as “Sabah”.
A photo of the said card, purportedly issued by a management firm here, has been making the rounds on social media in Sabah over the past few days.
“If indeed such cards exist, the authorities must be able to verify whether it is permitted under the law and explain why the nationality is given as ‘Sabah’,” said Sepanggar Upko youth chief Fardy Bungga today after lodging a police report in Inanam here.
He was concerned that the card may be mistaken for a citizenship document.
He said the authorities also need to clarify whether the card is also the “temporary Sabah pass” which the federal government intends to issue to regularise the illegal immigrants in the state next year.
