Amanah chief quashes sabotage claim in Malacca gov't

Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, who is also the defence minister, denied that there was an element of sabotage during the Malacca state assembly on Monday.
Mohamad Sabu told this to reporters in Parliament today when asked about a rejected motion to elect Malacca PKR chief Halim Bachik as senator.
"No (sabotage), that is a normal occurrence in any government," he said.
A motion to appoint Halim as senator was defeated on Monday as two PKR reps - Machap Jaya's Ginie Lim and Rembia's Muhamad Jailani Khamis - were absent during voting.

State assembly speaker Omar Jaafar rejected the motion on the election of the senator after 13 assemblypersons voted against, 12 voted for and three abstained.
It was alleged that the motion to elect the senator was due to factionalism within PKR. However, PKR Information chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin has since denied the speculation.
PKR president Anwar Ibrahim also said he will speak to the two PKR assemblypersons about the matter.
Mohamad Sabu insisted that the matter had been resolved by PKR and the state government was stable.
"PKR has taken action over that. The state government is still safe. It's not a problem. The matter has been resolved by PKR," he said.
