TG PIAI POLLS | MCA's candidate for the Tanjung Piai by-election has rebuffed allegations made by DAP that he was a lazy lawmaker in his previous two terms as the MP for the seat.
In a statement yesterday, Senai assemblyperson Alan Tee Boon Tsong claimed that Wee had rarely spoken in Parliament.
"Did you know that Wee was deputy youth and sports minister from 2008 to 2009? Never heard of it? That's okay, because he prefers to keep quiet than to work for the people.
"In fact, his record of speeches in the Dewan Rakyat as an MP is just 192 times in 10 years, meaning just about 19 times a year," Tee said.
Wee was Tanjung Piai MP from 2008 until 2018 when he was ousted by the late Dr Md Farid Md Rafik.
Tee said electing the MCA man for a third term would just result in disappointment for Tanjung Piai voters.
When met at the BN-PAS ceramah in Tanjung Piai last night, Wee told Malaysiakini that these allegations were "slander".
"How can they say that? You go check Parliament records," he said.
Wee is going up against Pakatan Harapan, Gerakan, Berjasa, and two independents in the battle for Tanjung Piai.
The polling day is Nov 16. - Mkini
