Malaysians in protest and Harapan should listen

There have been grumbles about the performance of Pakatan Harapan for months but the dissatisfaction felt by Malaysians became palpable when Harapan lost yet another by-election, this time by a landslide.
Triggered by the death of its popular MP Dr Md Farid Md Rafik, the election saw Hrapan lose by over 15,000 seats to the Barisan Nasional candidate, Wee Jeck Seng (photo).
It seems that rather than being a testimony of BN’s re-emerged popularity, voters used the by-election to protest against Prime Minister Mahathir and Harapan’s mountain of failed promises.
Malaysians are protesting against Harapan’s flippant attitude towards their supporters, at the way Dr Mahathir admitted that his coalition had made promises they knew they could never keep since they believed their chances of getting into power were so slim. At this point, there are too many broken pledges to count.

Malaysians are protesting the way Harapan has been pandering to the Malay-majority since being voted in, despite pledging to be a government for all the people. At the way Dr Mahathir dropped all stated plans that may have hurt Malay superiority, such as keeping the Affirmative Action policy; how his outspoken rhetoric put down the Chinese and Indian communities at the Malay Dignity Congress; how he called for all Malay parties to join his Bersatu and form some “super coalition” for the good of Malays.
Malaysians were protesting Dr Mahathir’s constant meddling in the affairs of other countries rather than dealing with the ample problems within our small country. Whether it is telling India or China how to run their business (and threatening our economy in the process) or whether it is criticising the West.
Malaysians were protesting Harapan’s inability to handle delicate matters with tact. Be it the khat or Jawi situations, gay sex videos circulating the media, or the matter of Indian preacher Zakir Naik.
Malaysian had put faith in Harapan and voted them in but our economy has remained stagnant. The 1MDB trials are moving slower than a snail, the country is as divided as it ever was, and we are totally at a loss. Some blame it on the archaic ruling methods of a 94-year-old leader and some are claiming Harapan just bit off more than they can chew. - Mkini
