TG PIAI POLLS | BN advisory board chairperson Najib Abdul Razak said while he is slightly inconvenienced by the withdrawal of his police outriders, a perk for his status as a former prime minister, he is undeterred.
Najib said he will continue to campaign for BN and its candidate MCA's Wee Jeck Seng for the coming Tanjung Piai by-election.
"It is slightly inconvenient but I will continue to help our candidate to campaign," he told journalists after a meet-and-greet session with voters at the Econsave supermarket in Pontian today.
Earlier this week, police informed Najib that he will no longer receive services of police outriders for personal and party purposes.
However, police said Najib could send in a request if he was on an official function.
Hundreds of people welcomed Najib and Wee at the supermarket and sought to take "selfies" with them.
The two frontrunners in the Tanjung Piai by-election are Wee and Bersatu's Karmaine Sardini.
The other candidates are Berjasa's Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz, Gerakan's Wendy Subramaniam and independent candidates Ang Chuan Lock and Faridah Aryani Abd Ghaffar.
Campaigning began last Saturday and Tanjung Piai voters will go to the polls on Nov 16.
The by-election was called after its incumbent MP, Bersatu's Mohd Farid Mohd Rafik, passed away from a heart attack in September, just three weeks before his 43rd birthday. - Mkini
