Sarawak party president denies criticising Dayaks, says it’s fake news

Parti Sarawak Bersatu chief Wong Soon Koh says some people are indulging in dirty politics to damage his reputation.
KUCHING: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) president Wong Soon Koh has slammed as fake news a claim that he criticised the Dayak community.
Wong said the doctored screenshot, titled “Wong Soon Koh: Dayaks are stupid with low IQ and easy to be manipulated”, claiming to be published by Free Malaysia Today had gone viral via WhatsApp.
He said an article, dated on July 13 by Free Malaysia Today with the headline “PSB backs Wong Soon Koh on whether to quit Sarawak Cabinet” had been doctored, including the headline, to show that he had belittled the Dayaks.
Earlier, Bernama had also reported that a screenshot of its website on Sarawak politics had been doctored. The news agency had taken action by lodging a police report over the matter.
The Free Malaysia Today report on July 13.
Wong said it was clear that some people were indulging in dirty politics to damage his reputation.
“PSB is committed to a multiracial, multicultural and multireligious society with a Sarawak identity and ideology.
“We are all one Sarawakian community. No racial group should feel any sense of loss or deprivation or feel being discriminated against by any other community,” he said.
He said PSB subscribed to the building of a progressive, stable and harmonious society based on equality, justice and mutual respect among all communities. - FMT
