KIMANIS POLLS | PKR president Anwar Ibrahim told Kimanis voters to support Warisan's Karim Bujang as he is not corrupt and will take care of the interest of the people in Kimanis.
Addressing an 800 strong-crowd at the Pimping last night, he said while BN had contributed to building schools and roads in Sabah during its rule, there were plenty of leakages and misappropriations.
Anwar said Warisan and Pakatan Harapan is the better government that will bring change to the country.
"Pakatan Harapan and Warisan prioritise the rakyat, and the government can bring change to the people (through policies and a) lawmaker who understand the people's problem.
"So, choose a candidate that is not corrupted, and he will take care of the interest of the people," he said.
He said he supports Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the prime minister and Shafie Apdal as the state chief minister.
Anwar then said he wants the support of the people in Sabah if comes to his turn to helm the country.
Sabah is a rich state with plenty of resources, but they were not properly shared by the people, he said.
Anwar added that Kimanis voters should vote for continuous development and unity in the country.
Pimping is the largest polling district in Kimanis constituency with 3,057 voters who are 91 percent Muslim bumiputera, and it is eyed by both parties.
On Jan 11, former Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak arrived in Pimping, and more than 600 people stayed to listen to his speech despite the venue of the ceramah being flooded following a heavy downpour.
In both events, the crowd comprised a huge number of party supporters clad in party shirts. Only less than half of the crowd are locals.
Earlier yesterday, Anwar listened to the grouses of PKR members in Sabah who complained about roads and other infrastructure issues as well as the plunging price of rubber.
There are 4,000 rubber tappers in Kimanis.
In his speech, Anwar said he would take note of the issues raised by the people.
He, however, urged PKR supporters to continuously vote for Warisan's candidate.
"I am asking that not to interrupt the (ongoing) programme. The process (to change Sabah and federal government) will take time. This is just a one-and-a-half-year-old government, we have to give a chance for the state government and federal government to continue (their plans).
"But when it is five-year-old and still nothing has come out, it is our right to change," he said.
"My turn to become the next prime minister has not come yet, why do you want to change? Slowly lah..." Anwar added. - Mkini
