PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating the death of a five-month-old baby who died in a childcare centre in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.
The deceased, Tengku Aamina Tengku Mohd Ikhwan, was rushed to a clinic in Bukit Jalil by the centre's workers on Thursday (Jan 16).
However, she was later pronounced dead by medical officers.
The mother, Siti Madihah Muhammad, said all was well when she sent her child to the centre.
"The clinic called me at 4.45pm. They said to hurry. Then, the centre owner called me while crying, saying that Tengku Aamina had died.
"I was told that she was still active at 2pm before she went to sleep. She was later found sleeping face down," Siti Madihah said when met by reporters at the Precinct 20 graveyard in Putrajaya on Friday (Jan 17).
Siti also said that she had just started sending her two children to the centre on Jan 2.
Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Mokhsein Mohamed Zon, when contacted, said that a report on the incident was lodged at the Bukit Jalil police station on Thursday.
"Investigations are under way and we are still waiting for the post-mortem report," he said. - Star
