PETALING JAYA: A 10-piece sitar ensemble’s rendition of a popular Chinese New Year tune is wowing Malaysians on social media.
The performance is the brainchild of Malaysian sitar maestro Samuel J. Dass, who every year produces an instrumental piece commemorating the various festivals celebrated in Malaysia.
For this year’s Chinese New Year, Dass came-up with a 10-piece sitar ensemble accompanied by guitar, cajon and sound effects.
The musicians in the video clip are all his students, aged 10 to 50, who attend music classes at his Swara Community Arts Centre here.
