MACC boss spends 4 hours with cops on audio clips

KUALA LUMPUR: Latheefa Koya today completed giving her statement to the police in relation to a police report she lodged following her revelation of nine clips containing phone conversations between prominent politicians linked to the 1MDB affair.
Also present were her deputy in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Azam Baki and five senior officers who gave their statements separately.
The session lasted almost four hours at the MACC headquarters.
The police investigation team was led by Mohd Fazley Ab Rahman from Bukit Aman’s Special Crime Investigation Unit.
Last week, MACC released nine audio clips featuring, among others, former prime minister Najib Razak, his wife Rosmah Mansor, ex-MACC chief Dzulkifli Ahmad and the crown prince of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed Zayed Al Nahyan.
The disclosure of the recordings drew criticism from lawyers, who said it was illegal to wire tap phone conversations, and that it would lead to a trial by media.
Latheefa has refused to respond to the criticism. - FMT
