Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said the current work progress on MRT2 is 70 percent complete and the major works are expected to be completed by 2022.
It is expected to be fully operational by early 2023.
“Phase One of MRT2 that runs from Kwasa Damansara station to Kampung Batu station will be operational in July 2021.
“Phase Two which continues on from Kampung Batu station to Putrajaya Sentral station will be operational by January 2023,” he said in a press conference at the Finance Ministry in Putrajaya today.
He was attending the signing of a supplementary agreement between Mass Rapid Transport Corp Sdn Bhd and MMC Gamuda Sdn Bhd.
The agreement concludes the rationalisation process, which has successfully lowered the cost of constructing MRT2 by RM8.82 billion, from RM39.35 billion to RM30.53 billion.
"The savings will not be immediate, it is spread over 20 years, so in the next 20 years the government can focus other infrastructure projects," Lim said. - Mkini
