PKR issues Zuraida with show-cause letter

The PKR disciplinary board has issued party vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin with a show-cause letter to be answered in 14 days from yesterday.

PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution (photo), however, told reporters that he was not privy to grounds for the letter issued by party disciplinary board chief Ahmad Kassim.

"Yesterday, Zuraida Kamaruddin was issued with a show-cause letter.

"She has 14 days to respond and after that, a decision will be made whether to hold a hearing, whether she will be cleared or others," Saifuddin said after the party's monthly Central Leadership Council meeting at its headquarters in Petaling Jaya.

He said the letter against Zuraida was among disciplinary matters raised by Ahmad in his briefing to PKR leaders present today.

Zuraida is absent from the meeting chaired by PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, as she joined other Harapan leaders in Kimanis, Sabah, for polling day in the parliament seat by-election.

Both Zuraida's supporters and detractors earlier gathered outside the headquarters in anticipation of a decision made against the Ampang MP, rumoured to be over her claims against Anwar made during a gathering of supporters aligned to PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali on Dec 8.

Saifuddin also revealed that the disciplinary board had moved to suspend the membership of former PKR Youth exco member, Akmal Hisham Ahmad Tamyiz, who were among the 17 people arrested in a drug raid allegedly linked to Bersatu last week.

New appointments to Central Leadership Council 

Meanwhile, Saifuddin also said there were minor changes made to the positions of two appointed central leadership council members.

Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye has been appointed to replace Machang Bubuk state assemblyperson Lee Khai Loon, while Batu Tiga assemblyperson Rodziah Ismail has replaced Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh, who is also Johor PKR chief.

Saifuddin said Lee as a central leadership council member also sat on the panel of PKR's disciplinary board, and a decision was made today to replace him with Hulu Selangor MP June Leow.

He added that Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Sim Tze Tzin was appointed to replace Nibong Tebal MP Mansor Othman as PKR's strategic director. - Mkini
