Ten PKR state chiefs today made an open call for party vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin's dismissal, barely an hour after it was revealed that she had been served with a show-cause letter.
Kedah PKR chief Johari Abdul said the state chiefs who met today, following the monthly Central Leadership Council meeting held earlier, agreed that the party disciplinary board should move to sack Zuraida for alleged indiscipline and her outburst against PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.
"Today we urge, after we received similar urges from the ground, from division heads in the states, for us (state chiefs) to take a strong stand that Zuraida must be sacked from the party.
"We, therefore, urge for the disciplinary board to study all the allegations made against Zuraida," said Johari (below).
"Her position today is not helpful at all to the party," said Johari who claimed that their call today received majority support from grassroots members in most states.
He said their call was also made regardless of Zuraida's response to the show-cause letter, although admitting that the Ampang MP still has a right to appeal any decisions made.
Johari was today flanked by nine other state chiefs including Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador, Pahang chief Fuziah Salleh and Johor chief Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh.
Farhash (below), who is also aide to Anwar, claimed the perception of Zuraida receiving grassroots support was not true.
"Like in Perak, from 24 divisions, 22 has urged for her to be sacked... to say that she is popular among Wanita, is also not true," he claimed.
Fuziah, a former Wanita PKR leader, echoed Farhash's claim that Zuraida - also a former Wanita PKR chief - has lost popularity among their members.
Earlier today, a group of some 50 Zuraida's supporters, faced-off with their detractors who called for her to be sacked.
Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun was also present at the meeting, while three others - Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian, Sabah PKR chief Christina Liew and Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari - were absent. - Mkini
