The Saudi Arabian government will be charging pilgrims a visa fee of RM326 (300 riyal) each for the haj pilgrimage, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mujahid Yusof Rawa.
He said the newly introduced charge for this year's haj season by the Saudi Arabian government would be imposed on pilgrims from all countries including Malaysia.
“This (visa) is a new thing introduced by Saudi Arabia and (Malaysia) has no choice but to accept the decision made by the country," he told a press conference at KLIA today after a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia.
"Also, Saudi Arabia has abolished the RM2,171 (2,000 riyal) imposed on repeat pilgrims namely those who are performing haj more than once."
Mujahid said he was informed on the matter during a meeting with Saudi Arabian Haj and Umrah Minister Mohammad Saleh bin Taher Benten on issues related to the management and preparation of pilgrims from Malaysia for the next haj season. — Bernama
