Takiyuddin: PAS supports Dr M until end of term

PAS will support Dr Mahathir Mohamad as prime minister until the end of the term, reiterated the party's secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan.
"Informally, we openly declare that our party will cooperate and support Mahathir as the PM until the end of the term.
"That is out stand in Parliament and also outside. The party president had relayed his hope for Mahathir to continue (as PM) until the end of the term," Takiyuddin said.
He also did not rule out the possibility of the Islamic party working together with Bersatu.

"You can see our history, we were with DAP, PKR, (and now) BN. It could be possible that we cooperate with Dr Mahathir's party."
Takiyuddin was met during the Chinese New Year open house celebrations organised by MCA in Kuala Lumpur today.
Asked whether PAS would work with DAP again, Takiyuddin said: "We can't say at the moment. Wait for the time. We cross the bridge when we get to it."
On speculations that PAS will join the Pakatan Harapan government in the near future, Takiyuddin said the party has not received such an offer.
"Joining the federal government? We are the Opposition. That depends on the offer. At the moment, we have yet to receive anything from the government.
"When you talk about (joining) the federal government, that means the Harapan government, not the prime minister alone.
"It's a different thing if you say we are invited by the prime minister to join the federal government," he said.
Takiyuddin was asked about the speculation of an entry into the federal government after pictures of Mahathir meeting PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar circulated on social media.
The meeting was also joined by Mahathir's wife Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali and stalwart Khairuddin Abu Hassan.
Abdul Hadi had then brushed off allegations that he requested for PAS to join the Harapan government during the meeting, saying the discussion was only about matters concerning states led by PAS.
"We don't meddle into other matters and have no intention to join Harapan," said Abdul Hadi. - Mkini
