Accused of inciting more crossovers from Amanah, Hasnul issues denial

Malaysiakini

After his shocking crossover to support Perikatan Nasional, Titi Serong assemblyperson Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim has been accused of inciting several other Perak Amanah members said to be close to him.
Sources told Malaysiakini the claims against Hasnul (above) has led Perak Amanah to issue an order to cut ties with the party's former youth chief.
"The matter was raised during a Perak Amanah meeting last night," said the source who declined to be named.
Hasnul, along with two other Pakatan Harapan Perak lawmakers, had on March 9 declared themselves as independents in support of PN, a day after the fall of the Harapan state government.
When contacted, Hasnul, however, denied the claims.
Instead, he stressed that he has to yet decide on his political direction and would rather remain an independent for now.
"I am more comfortable as an independent state assemblyperson.
"No, I did not invite any of my close friends (to leave Amanah)," he told Malaysiakini.
"I made my decision after the state government had fallen.
"I chose to support and assist the menteri besar to carry out duties for the people," he said.
On his current work, Hasnul said he had, during the movement control order period for Covid-19, distributed donations of mackerels to Titi Serong constituents.
In the last five days, he said two tonnes of fish have been distributed to 1,600 families in the area, particularly low-income farmers, fishermen and factory workers.
"The first phase has been completed today, and we will continue with the second phase later," he said. - Mkini
