Following calls for "traitors" linked to former party deputy president Azmin Ali to be expelled, PKR Wanita deputy chief Dr Daroyah Alwi has reiterated her loyalty to the party.
In a statement today, the former Azmin ally appealed for unity within PKR.
“Membujur lalu melintang patah, I would like to declare that I will continue being committed and loyal to fighting for the ideals of the reformasi struggle together with PKR," Daroyah (above) said.
“Let us PKR members at all levels unanimously come together and strengthen our resolve to continue working hard to uphold the mandate and trust of the people.
“Let us stop attempts to tear the party apart because this will not bring any benefits, only ruin,” she said.
Yesterday, several PKR Youth members urged the party to remove 18 specific leaders, claiming they were detrimental to the party.
The members declined to name the 18 but contended that they were allied to Azmin and had conspired with him in the "Sheraton Move" political coup on Feb 23.
The members also appealed to party president Anwar Ibrahim against forgiving the 18 even if they claimed to be loyal to the party.
Earlier this week, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari had stressed that his loyalty was with PKR and not Azmin.
He also opined that any campaign to remove traitors from the party was unnecessary as such people had already been expelled.
Azmin, along with former party vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin and her aide Nor Hizwan Ahmad were fired after they worked with Bersatu to engineer a political partnership with former opposition parties Umno and PAS.
The new political pact, called Perikatan Nasional, is now the ruling party. - Mkini
