Agong monitors control order compliance, praises frontliners for hardwork

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah earlier today went around several areas in the heart of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor to monitor the level of compliance of the movement control order.
According to Istana Negara, the King drove around Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, and areas around KLCC, among others.
He also made several stops to meet police personnel manning roadblocks at Jalan Semantan, Sri Hartamas, Jalan Loke Yew and Jalan Ampang.
"Thank you to the police for carrying out your duties. I had also made stops at three roadblocks before this," Sultan Abdullah was heard saying in a video clip, where he was talking to a police officer manning a roadblock in Jalan Ampang.
In another video clip taken when Sultan Abdullah was driving at the Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (Duke Highway), the monarch was heard expressing his disappointment upon seeing that there were still many vehicles plying the road.
He said the number of vehicles should be reduced as soon as possible.
"I hope that this can be reduced as soon as possible for the mutual benefit of the people, especially in Kuala Lumpur," he said.
Under the order, which is aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19, the government has directed the closures of offices and business premises, with the exception of those selling food and daily necessities.
Restaurants and eateries are allowed to operate, but with the condition that they only do takeaways and food delivery services.
The government also ordered for the closure of all learning institutions throughout the order period between March 18 and March 31, and advised the public not to leave their homes except to purchase daily necessities and to seek medical treatment. - Mkini
