Amanah Youth condemns its chief leaving Harapan as an act of betrayal

Malaysiakini

Amanah Youth has described its chief Hasnul Zulkarnain Abdul Munaim leaving Pakatan Harapan as an act of betrayal.
Amanah Youth vice-chief Shazni Munir Mohd Ithnin said they are disappointed with the decision by the Titi Serong assemblyperson, which is seen to go against the trust of the rakyat.
“Amanah Youth is very disappointed with the action of Hasnul which is clearly a betrayal.
“We strongly condemn his act which goes against the rakyat’s mandate and betray the fight and the people’s trust,” he said in a statement today.
Earlier, three Perak Harapan assemblypersons including Hasnul announced they would be leaving their parties to become independents following the formation of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government in Perak today.
Aside from Hasnul, Tronoh and Buntong assemblypersons Paul Yong and A Sivasubramaniam also pledged their support for Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
Yong said he made his decision to preserve the rakyat’s rights as an elected representative.
This morning, Ahmad Faizal held a special press conference on the formation of the PN government in Perak.
Meanwhile, Shazni said Amanah Youth will be holding an emergency meeting to discuss Hasnul’s position.
“As such, Amanah Youth will call a meeting as soon as possible to decide his (Hasnul’s) position in the national Amanah Youth committee,” he said. - Mkini
