CORONAVIRUS | Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has advised people to take precaution to protect the elderly in their families who suffer from chronic illness.
This follows an increase in the Covid-19 death rate, mostly involving people from that demography.
"From the 34 cases of death related to Covid-19 recorded to date, 55.6 percent were aged above 60-years-old and 67.6 percent had chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, kidney disease and heart disease.
"They are more vulnerable to more severe Covid-19 infection. Therefore, it is important for them and their family members to take precautions to prevent Covid-19 infections.
"Also ensure that the patients' medicine supply is sufficient and does not cease. Health services are still continuing in all Health Ministry facilities for follow-up appointments and to replenish medicine," he told a press conference in Putrajaya today.
Hisham added that the virtual health advisory is also available daily from 8.30am to 5pm.
Malaysia today reported the highest number of deaths in 24 hours with seven, bringing the death toll to 34.
There were also 150 new cases, bringing the total to 2,470. - Mkini
