CORONAVIRUS | Port Dickson MP Anwar Ibrahim has announced his centre will be distributing face masks and sanitisers to constituents and will be offering free delivery service for groceries and medical supplies.
The PKR president said this was to help flatten the epidemic curve of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The announcement came in the midst of a two-week movement control order imposed by the federal government to slow the spread of the coronavirus which has so far killed three and infected 1,027 others in the country.
Anwar announced that up to 1,000 mask sets - each comprising seven face masks and 10 alcohol swabs) will be distributed, along with 1,000 bottles of anti-bacterial soaps and hand sanitisers.
Up to 500 essential aid packets will also be distributed to the needy such zakat recipients, the poor and elderly.
“The Port Dickson service centre is taking the initiative to distribute several essential items for free to the people and agencies in the district.
“The initiative is carried out to flatten the curve linked to Covid-19. It is also meant to create awareness to remind people to be aware of the spread of Covid-19 should they have to carry out work outside,” he said in a statement.
The epidemic, or epidemiological, curve is a statistical chart used to visualise the onset of a disease outbreak.
Meanwhile, the service centre will also provide free delivery services for essential good and medicine.
“Port Dickson residents can contact the service centre representative, Boy Fadzrie at 018-242853 for more details.
“It is hope all this aid will ease the burden on Port Dickson residents,” Anwar added.
With this, he joined similar services offered by other opposition MPs during the March 18 to 31 order period.
These include Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Balik Pulau MP Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik and Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar. - Mkini
