PUTRAJAYA: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin made a surprise visit to Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah here to congratulate students receiving their SPM results.
This is his first public engagement since he assumed the post of Prime Minister on March 1.
Muhyiddin was greeted upon arrival by the school's principal, Salleh Ismail, and its PTA chairman, Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.
In his short address to parents and students, the Prime Minister said he was committed to bringing further development and progress to the country's education system.
"I am also committed to ensuring the system will produce students who are not just excellent but 'par excellence'," he said.
The Prime Minister said he wanted to see students who were skilled, could embrace science and technology, as well as English and Bahasa Melayu. - Star
