Covid-19: 159 new cases, death toll at 27

CORONAVIRUS | There have been 159 new Covid-19 cases in the country, bringing the total to 2,320 as of noon today.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there has also been one new death, bringing the death toll to 27.
The latest victim was Patient 2,162, a 61-year-old man with a history of diabetes and hypertension, who was first warded at the Tangkak Hospital on March 24.
He was transferred to the Muar Hospital on March 25, and died at 10.50am this morning.
Of the new cases, 73 are in ICU today compared to 54 from yesterday.
54 of the critical patients need ventilators, compared to 39 yesterday.
Asked about the Sri Petaling tabligh cluster, Noor Hisham said to date 12,500 samples had been taken.
Of this, 1,207 have tested positive, 70 more than yesterday.
Meanwhile, 6,648 others from this cluster have tested negative.
Another 5,084 from the tabligh cluster have been screened but have not yet been tested.
On the good news, 61 Covid-19 patients have recovered and discharged today, bringing the total recoveries to 320 cases, with a discharge rate of 13.8 percent. - Mkini
