CORONAVIRUS | A doctor who was serving at the Hospital Sultan Ismail Petra, Kuala Krai, Kelantan, and her nine-month-old baby, passed away earlier today after the Health Department van they were travelling in crashed at Kilometre 11, Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala, Kampung Renok Baru, Gua Musang, Kelantan.
In the 9.50am incident, Dr Nooranisah Mohd Razali, 31, reportedly died on site, while her son - Mohammad Fitri Yusof Muhammad Hafiz Zulhilmi - died at Hospital Gua Musang at 11.02am.
Seven other individuals - Mohd Lazim Abdullah, 56; Dr Siti Salwa Mohamad Shokri, 38; Syahirah Muhamad Razali, 20; Dr Norazma Mohamad, 34; Dr Linda Laili Ibrahim Shukri, 29; Dr Suzuanhafizan Omar, 32; and Dr Hazirah Sazali, 33 - were also injured.
When contacted, Gua Musang district police chief Mohd Taufik Maidin confirmed the incident.
'On Covid-19 duty'
According to Mohd Taufik, the incident occurred while they were travelling from Kuala Krai to Gua Musang in a Toyota Hiace van to perform Covid-19 treatments.
"Dr Nooranisah died on-site due to head and body injuries.
"Her son, Mohammad Fitri Yusof, died at 11.02am at Gua Musang Hospital due to internal injuries," he said.
Mohd Taufik further explained that Nooranisah had travelled with her baby because she was just assigned to assist the team at Gua Musang Hospital for a period of time.
"The seven individuals injured are also attached to Hospital Sultan Ismail Petra, Kuala Krai.
"They are currently being treated at Gua Musang Hospital and are in stable conditions," he said.
Mohd Taufik added that the bodies of Nooranisah and her baby were sent for post-mortem at Gua Musang Hospital before being handed over to family members. - Mkini
