KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): If it were any other year, March 25 would be a day where smartly-uniformed police personnel would take part in a march past at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) in conjunction with National Police Day.
But there was no sign of them at Pulapol on Wednesday (March 25) for this year's 213th-anniversary celebration.
Instead, our men in blue were out on the streets enforcing the nationwide Movement Control Order (MCO) as the country comes to grips with the Covid-19 pandemic.
Although there was no celebration, the deeds and sacrifices of our security personnel have not gone unnoticed – social media was flooded with congratulatory messages and gratitude from the rakyat and national leaders.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob tweeted about the priceless sacrifices made by the police for the community
"Happy Police Day to all police personnel and their families. Thank you for always being with us in good and bad times. The police's sacrifice is priceless. @PDRMsia," said Ismail, who is also Defence Minister.
Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein also prayed that the PDRM personnel will be blessed by Allah.
"The deeds and sacrifices of Royal Malaysia Police (@PDRMsia) personnel for the country, especially during the Covid-19 crisis, are huge and one we cannot repay. Thank you PDRM – because of you we are safe at home! I pray that all PDRM personnel will be blessed by Allah SWT," he said.
Meanwhile, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad also prayed for the safety of the men in blue while carrying out their duties implementing the MCO.
"I wish all PDRM personnel a very happy 213th Police Day celebration. Stay safe as you carry out your duties in enforcing the MCO. My wife and I will continue to pray for your safety and that of your families, InsyaAllah (God Willing)," he said. – Bernama
