CORONAVIRUS | The Education Ministry has ordered all ministry gatherings such as those involving sporting programmes and curricular activities scheduled for this month be postponed until further notice.
It said this was in line with the Health Ministry’s advisory against public gatherings in the wake of the second wave of coronavirus outbreak.
“The Education Ministry has decided that all ministry programmes involving large gathering of people, such as sports programmes and curricular activities for March 2020, be postponed to a date to be announced later.
“All ministry staff are reminded to adhere to the standard operating procedure on controlling the spread of coronavirus 2019 (Covid-19) outbreak issued by the Health Ministry,” said the Education Ministry in a statement this morning.
Yesterday, Malaysia reported nine new positive Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of recorded cases to 158. Of these, 32 have recovered and discharged from hospital.
All nine new cases have been traced to three existing patients, with one related to Case 26 and Case 33, while eight to Case 131.
"Case 26" refers to Khazanah executive director and UDA Holdings chairperson Hisham Hamdam while "Case 33" is a 58-year-old Malaysian man who had direct contact with the former. Both are presently being treated at the Hospital Sungai Buloh in Selangor.
Meanwhile, "Case 131" is a 60-year-old Malaysian man who attended an international ijtima tabligh event at the Sri Petaling Mosque in Kuala Lumpur from Feb 28 to March 1.
He is being treated at the Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan in Kuantan, Pahang. - Mkini
